We rely a lot on the quantities when entering our grain, hay or stock numbers, this helps when budgeting with our farm consultant. The program is easily shared between our accountant and our farm consultant, making easy emailing of the backups for their viewing. The GST function is awesome. I have worked with other accounting packages but Phoenix works for our farming enterprise. We still run a desktop version as the internet is not reliable enough for the live version.

I have used Xero, a program marketed as easy to use and found that it is overpriced, limited in capability and has issues with some basic functions such as preparing a BAS. I use Quickbooks for another business as it is cheap, however in doing so I lament the fact that it is very quirky and not intuitive to operate. As a program designed specifically for agriculture, Phoenix does as much as possible to reduce the time taken and to simplify the tasks.

Since taking over our challenge has been understanding our livestock numbers, controlling livestock changes and movements. In conjunction with tagging (and scanning) all the cattle on the place, the livestock module has enabled us to accurately and visually track each animal and its individual history including treatments etc. Cattle are our most important asset, so understanding how many we have and being able to recall that on our phones at any time is very helpful.

Managing borrowed money to finance property purchase - I use the budgeting and reports to present evidence to our lenders of good business management. The single Touch Payroll feature keeps us compliant. The GST management helps me fill out our own BAS. I have recently started using the Mapping, Livestock, cropping and Weather to begin integrating my Daughter- in - law into the business administration as a part of our succession plan.

In 2021 we need to have access to up-to-date financial data in a format that is easy to interpret. Phoenix provides this in a program which specifically focuses on Agriculture. It is intuitive, current and it really helps us make informed financial decisions for our business.

The fact that Phoenix was integrated right through and we felt that the AGDATA guys were listening to us and making changes and trying to improve their product, we decided we'd stick with them... What we've seen so far has been brilliant.

A big challenge is our finances. After long droughts and little income through those periods spending has to be limited. By using the budgets through Phoenix we can create multiple budgets based on different situations and circumstances so we can plan ahead.

We operate an organically certified rotational grazing enterprise that is also EU, LPA and Global Animal Partnerships (GAP) accredited. We recently had an audit, the first since upgrading to Phoenix Live. We had been chatting to the auditor about how we had implemented Phoenix Live and its capabilities. On hearing this, the auditor asked to see the life history of an animal picked at random from a feedback sheet in our records. Previously we had relied on mob-based records over a number of different sources - Phoenix, spreadsheets, diary entries, treatment logs etc - this was the first time we had been asked for the life history of a specific animal. We brought the animal's record up in a report detailing all their paddock movements, health treatments and the supplement they had been fed over their lifetime. The auditor was very pleased to receive such a concise report with all the information they required and we passed the audit!
